£10,000 reward after victim is scarred for life
POLICE are offering a £10,000 reward in their hunt for an attacker who left his victim scarred for life.
The 38-year-old man needed 40 stitches when his face was slashed on the way home from an Arsenal-Wigan football match on November 24 last year.
The attack happened as the victim and two friends were walking in Blackstock Road, Finsbury Park, in the early evening. One of them accidentally bumped into the attacker.
It is not known what weapon was used but the victim was left with a deep, five-inch cut running across his cheek.
The suspect, described as about six foot tall with a beard, short hair and aged in his 20s, ran off along Blackstock Road.
Detective Sergeant Adam Rodger, from Islington CID, said: “This was a vicious and unprovoked attack on the victim, who received a deep cut to his face. He will be scarred for life as a result. The nature of this assault was so serious we are now offering a £10,000 reward for information which leads to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the man responsible.
“The area was very busy at the time of the attack so there should be numerous witnesses. People’s memories might be triggered by the fact Arsenal were playing Wigan that day.”
The victim has now recovered but is still receiving treatment for his injuries.
