With many opportunities arising from the regeneration of Woodberry Down and the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics Games, Hackney locals will be in a great position to take advantage of this in the coming years.

That is why Woodberry Works has launched the ‘Future Builders’ scheme to give residents a five-day taster course into a career in the construction industry.

‘Future Builders’ will provide basic hands-on practical trials in tiling and plastering; painting and decorating and plumbing. Residents will be able to try out construction activities before committing to a longer period of study.

All courses are FREE and open to Hackney residents; employment seekers/benefits claimants; and men and women people aged over 16 with no upper age limit.

The January course is open to all and begins on Monday 26th January 2009. Enrolment is at the Woodberry Works Training Centre on Friday 16th January between 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 4.00pm.

The February course is for women only and starts on Monday 26th February 2009. Enrolment is at the Woodberry Works Training Centre on Wednesday 11th February between 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 4.00pm.
